| In this Tutorial, We will create a multi-colored glow
and add some extra effects using the Paint Brush tool and a Pattern Overlay
style. |

| 1.) Open Photoshop 7.0 and create a new
file. Go to File > New. Make it 300 X 135 pixels on a
white background at 72 dpi then hit OK. |

| 2.) Press the letter D on the keyboard to
set the foreground color to black. Now go to Edit > Fill.
Set to 100% opacity and hit OK. |

3.) In the Layers palette, click the
Create a New Layer icon to create a new layer.
Also turn off "Eye" icon to background layer. |

| 4.) Next, select the Text
tool and type Rainbow. (I used Impact 60pt smooth.) Now, select the
Move tool and center text. |

| 5.) Repeat Step 4, this time type
Glow. |
| |

Text should look similar to this:

6.) Go to Layer > Merge Visible
(Shift + Ctrl +E). Now , turn back "on" the eye icon in
the background layer. (Work area window will now turn black.)

| 7.) Next, right-click on the text layer and
go to Outer Glow. (Dialog palette will appear.) Click on the
color swatch to activate Color Picker. Select white and hit
OK. Now, change the Blend Mode to Normal and hit OK. |

| 8.) Duplicate layer by dragging the layer and
dropping on the Create a New Layer icon. Next, drag the new
copy layer below the original type layer. Right-click on the text
layer and go to Outer Glow. (Dialog palette will appear.) Click
on the color swatch to activate Color Picker. Select Yellow.
Hit OK. Now, set spread to 25 and set size
to 8. Hit OK. |

| 9.) Duplicate layer by dragging the layer and
dropping on the Create a New Layer icon. Next, drag the new
copy layer below that layer. Right-click on the text layer and go
to Outer Glow. Click on the color swatch to activate Color
Picker. Select Purple then hit OK. Also, set size amount
now to 13. Hit OK. |

| 10.) Ctrl + Click on the original text
layer to start the "marching ants" selection. Now, just
click, the Create a New Layer icon to create a new
blank layer. Select X on the keyboard to switch foreground
color to white. Next, select the Paint Brush tool and in the
options bar, select the down arrow to activate the brush palette.
Once there, click the arrow (top right of palette) to activate the
pop-out menu and go to Special Effect Brushes. When
the pop-up appears hit OK. Select 1st brush selection
and follow settings below. |

Drag brush thru selection across center of work
area.

| 11.) With selection still present, go to Layer
> Layer Style > Pattern Overlay and select
the following pattern "Tie Dye" then hit OK. |

| Ctrl + D to de-select selection. Text is
now completed, compare work to top image. |
